WORKFORCE BOARD HOLDS STUDENT DATA REPORTING WEBINAR NEXT WEEK
The Workforce Board is holding a webinar (offered on two different dates) to help staff at schools and colleges learn to more quickly and efficiently upload data to the agency’s online Student Data Portal, which opens July 1. The first webinar is Wednesday, June 26 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. The second is slated for July 9. No RSVPs are required. All private career schools licensed by the Workforce Board and schools with certain programs on the state’s Eligible Training Provider List are required to submit student data. STATEWIDE RURAL VITALITY FORUM WEBINAR NOW ONLINE

The Workforce Board recently wrapped up a series of rural forums, traveling to locations across the state to hear stories and solutions from employers, employees, and the community to boost Washington’s economy. The Workforce Board received a grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to conduct the “listening tour” this spring in Toppenish, Aberdeen, Colville, and Quincy. The fifth and final forum was a statewide webinar that outlined feedback from previous forums and suggested next steps. This webinar was recorded in Wenatchee. WORKFORCE BOARD STAFFS NEW OVERSIGHT BOARD

The Workforce Board was tasked by the Legislature to staff the new Workforce Education Investment Accountability and Oversight Board. The new Board was established during the 2019 legislative session to make recommendations on which workforce education priorities to fund as part of the Workforce Education Investment Act. SPOKANE CHOSEN AS SITE FOR NATIONAL WORKFORCE INITIATIVE AIMED AT CLOSING EQUITY GAPS

Spokane has been picked as one of five communities for a national workforce initiative that pulls together training and recruiting efforts to reduce equity gaps and drive a thriving economy. Greater Spokane Inc. will lead the local effort, which includes the Spokane Workforce Council, along with a wide range of both workforce and economic development partners, government agencies, and employers. Dubbed the Inclusive Development Network, the initiative aims to retain and recruit new businesses, and prepare workers for both new and existing jobs, with an emphasis on underserved populations. The program comes with a $60,000 stipend and is administered by the adult education and employment nonprofit, Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL). More: https://prn.to/2RnI7vs

The Washington Student Achievement Council’s annual Pave the Way Conference is set for December 11 at the University of Washington in Seattle. The conference focuses on strategies to advance equity, increase college readiness, and broaden access to higher education in Washington.
