Position title:  Crew Member (11-month positions) 

Description:

Improve habitat for fish and wildlife, serve outdoors, and gain hands-on environmental skills by joining the Washington Conservation Corps! We are now recruiting AmeriCorps members on our crews statewide. With 260 field crew opportunities and an internship program, we offer a wide range of exciting, valuable opportunities in the environmental field.

Develop your résumé: Learn trail building technique, help restore salmon habitat along rivers and streams, remove invasive species, and more! The WCC also provides high quality and career-transferable skills training daily.

Qualifications: Must be 18-25 years old, with exceptions for recently returned military veterans (age restrictions do not apply to Gulf War era II reservists, dependents, and veterans). Strong preference is given to Washington state residents.

Pay: Members earn a semi-monthly living allowance of $1,058, and receive an AmeriCorps Education Award of $6,095 (scholarship) upon successful completion of 11-month term and 1700 hours. Educational loan forbearance is available.

Start date: October 7, 2019.

Housing Specialist I

POSITION SUMMARY:   The Housing Authority of Snohomish County (HASCO) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Housing Specialist I. QUALIFICATIONS:  High school graduate or GED equivalent required, with vocational training in office skills preferred. A minimum of one-year relevant work experience; with demonstrated success in meeting work deadlines.  Must have knowledge of general office procedures, 10-key by touch, accurate typing and ability to operate standard office machines.  Requires strong computer skills; will use Microsoft Word, Access, Excel and specialized document software.

COMPENSATION:        The annual salary is $41,110.  The Housing Authority offers a very competitive benefit package including medical and dental insurance, supplemental insurance policies, retirement and deferred compensation plans. The Housing Authority also provides flexible schedule options and generous paid time off, including holiday pay.

The CSR role is a great way to learn a bit about every program and service that HASCO provides. This work requires accuracy and attention to detail.

The goal of the LNESC Vancouver Upward Bound (UB) Project is to improve the

academic achievement, retention, college enrollment, and college persistence rates of

its participants in order to prepare disadvantaged youth for the academic challenges and

rewards of pursuing and completing postsecondary programs.

This project serves sixty (60) low-income and potential first-generation college students

from Fort Vancouver High School, Evergreen High School, and Heritage High School.

The UB project will select eligible 9th and 10th graders each year with documented

academic need for project services and all participants (9th – 12th) will receive the

academic instruction and supportive services necessary to prepare them for

postsecondary programs.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

The Upward Bound Project Director will report directly to LNESC’s Executive Director

and Program Management team located in Washington, DC. The following is a list of

essential responsibilities for the position of Project Director:

Plan and oversee the day-to-day development and implementation of all aspects

of the project.

Serve as point of contact with administration of school districts, partner schools,

as well as local college personnel and community partners.

Ensure local project operations are consistent with grant proposal, LNESC procedures, federal laws, and regulations.

Identify, facilitate hiring process, and provide direct supervision of Upward Bound staff, including performance evaluation and training.

Oversee local documentation, data collection and evaluation related to program development and implementation, compliance with federal guidelines, and program and participant performance.

Develop annual project calendar.

Lead and administer all written reports internally and to the Department of Education in a timely manner.

Manage project budget, approve expenditure of funds, ensuring compliance with federal regulations and LNESC fiscal policies.

Coordinate publicity campaign in target areas and schools.

Oversee content on project website and social networks.

Work in coordination with the LNESC advisory committee.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in education, public or business administration, or other interdisciplinary study required. Master’s degree preferred.

At least one-year administrative experience and two years of supervisory experience directing a program or similar programs serving youth who are traditionally underrepresented in higher education. Strong knowledge of the target community and its challenges.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Appropriate and relevant professional or personal experience in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the target population from which Upward Bound participants are selected preferred.

Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred.

•Arrange meetings, generate notes, prepare background materials, and handle follow-upactions.

•Create and track public records requests (RCW 42.56) on behalf of the Policy AdvocacyGroup.

•Communicate confidently and respectfully with external staffers, ACLU leaders, and allies.
